Georg A. Bochow - Countertenor / Mezzo

Biographical Notes

I was born 1991 in Berlin, half of Russian descent and as a child I lived in Canada for four years.

I became a countertenor by accident, essentially because I didn't want my voice break to be true. Then I studied in Berlin with Prof. Renate Faltin at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler.

I love the operatic stage and Händel is my all time favourite. But I also thoroughly enjoy concerts and oratorios!

I owe a lot to the Lautten Compagney Berlin, because this wonderful baroque orchestra was the  first to allow me to explore, learn and sing beautiful music with such zest and vigour.

As much as I can never sing enough baroque music, I believe that Contemporary Music should always be given a chance and performed.

I think of myself as a singer and a performer and I always try to learn various forms of physical expressivity: baroque gestures, fencing, Biomechanics...

Last but not least, perhaps because I am the son of a dramaturg, I love developing concert programs with moderation and performance.
